Katie's First Haircut

Here are some important facts--for the record--about Katie's first haircut:

1. It was not planned.

2. Nor was it wanted.

3. It occurred on Saturday while Luke was at work and I was grabbing an 8-minute shower.

4. It earned Abby a 2-hour time-out and a prohibition from using scissors until she goes to college.

5. It kindled in me the most wrath I have felt yet towards my firstborn.

6. It actually COULD have been worse, but it was still bad.

7. My mom put it into perspective for me by reminding me that she had her ponytail chopped off by her sister Connie when they were young. (She had the first A-line cut that is now so popular!)

8. I can laugh about it now, since the trauma has worn off.

9. When I called Luke to tell him about it, I cried. All those beautiful baby curls scattered on the floor! And Abby insisting that Katie had done it to herself!! He couldn't help laughing--he was so relieved that no one was bleeding or unconscious, after hearing my grim tone of voice.

10. Katie-Bug is oblivious to the whole ordeal. :)

I'm so sorry for you :(. But Katie is cute no matter what her hair looks like!! Hopefully Abby has learned her lesson and won't cut her own hair next.

Oh man! I guess there is an advantage to having a boy! At least Abby didn't do it to herself and cut crazy pieces everywhere. I think it would look way worse on her than on little Katie! I would be so sad though. I hope Katie's hair grows in fast! :)

My mom says the angriest she ever was at my brother was after he cut my hair. And he's done a LOT worse things since then! I hope the curls come back!

Hahahahah. Oh Carrie I hate to say it but that is soooo funny. The picture of Katie really doesn't look that bad. I guess with us having girls and all we knew this was going to happen sooner or later. I would have cried too, I love the baby curls.

That is so funny, but definately not at the time. So far no haircuts in our household but I am sure my boys will eventually give it a try. Your such a good mom and I am sure "your" wrath really wasn't that bad.

Sorry.

Just the other day I walked into the kitchen where Sophia was staring at the scissors in her hand. She looked at me shocked,as if she had been caught, and stated, "Only Jennifer cuts our hair." Yes, only Jennifer cuts our hair that's right, now give me those scissors.

Disaster averted.
