With Abby starting school tomorrow (2nd grade!), it feels like summer is officially over. It's been a scorchingly hot one here in St. Louis, but we've survived! Here are a few pictures of what we've been up to:
Keeping cool with the slip-and-slide and wading pool
Celebrating my birthday (Luke, Abby, and Katie cooked up some great plans!)
Working on craft projects (ironing designs onto these little bags)--and yes, a few summer days have been spent in nightgowns or ballet leotards when we're not going anywhere!
Dressing up (here's Fireman Alex with his favorite gingerbread house, toting around his "special things")
Attending library activities: here's Abby dressed as Hermione for a Harry Potter library party. (We've certainly kept them in business this summer, with our semi-weekly visits!)
A visit to Suson Farm and Park (on one of the super-hot days; we barely lasted one hour!)
And, of course, a visit to our awesome zoo . . .
Good times!!

1. James also has a beloved fireman hat.
2. I miss the St. Louis zoo!
3. Sorry about the heat. I'm looking at your pictures of Summer and hearing how hot it is, and thinking that it's such a shame that we all still have to go on wearing clothes when it's so darn hot. Sure hope the worst is over for you guys, as the Summer is coming to a close.
Looks like fun! I'm glad you're surviving the crazy heat! We sure love you guys!
What a fun summer!! Next time you have a horrible heat wave, you could come cool off with us in Austin! (haha!) Here's to temperatures over 100. :)
ps - Why does Luke look so scared on the slip n' slide while Katie and Abby just look like they're having a blast?
pps - I love Katie's "I'm too sexy for this gorilla statue" pose. Or is it "I'm too sexy for this family outing" pose?
