The Christmas Analysis

Yesterday I finally did it: the pile test. I set Abby's Christmas presents in one little pile and Katie's in another to see if they were even. And I came to some conclusions:

1. My girls are toddlers. It's not like they're going to notice! (Abby will be totally caught up in her toys, and Katie will be busy munching on the wrapping paper.)

2. I've actually done a pretty darn good job of making it even and of not going too overboard on gifts, despite all my stressing. (Phew!)

3. This is one of those MANY parenting moments when I wonder, How did my parents ever pull this off with 8 kids? They're amazing!

And I thought I was the only one that did the "analysis" and stressed out whether the presents were even or not. I'm happy to hear I'm not alone in that! I also came to the conclusion that Teagan is not going to crawl on over to Wesley's pile and count the number of presents, and so who cares that he gets fewer. Unfortunately, he's boy #3 AND has a December birthday. It took all my creativity to come up with ideas for the gifts he is getting!

I went overboard. That is my confession. Every year, that is my confession. Any hints on how to curb my gifting?

How are you, by the way? I found your blog through Katie H's, and I'm so thrilled to see your cute family!

I went to look up your email address and found your blog address at the bottom of one of your emails. I'm so glad I found it! I was doing the pile test for Ethan just last night, which was pretty ridiculous because he's our only one so far and he's still a little to young to fully grasp the concept of presents. Still, there I was staring at everything asking myself if I'd gotten enough.

Great job Carrie. I ended up leaving a few presents out for birthday because I was NOT even.
Great to get your Christmas card. You guys are so cute!
