I had a great 48-hour getaway to Utah last weekend. Taking Katie with me and leaving Abby with Luke, I attended an overnight reunion retreat with counselors from Academy for Girls, a youth program that I worked with from 1994 to 1998. I had a fabulous time renewing my friendship with about 25 of these incredible women! AFG was a huge part of my life for five years, and my experiences there helped to strengthen my testimony of the gospel and to prepare me to be a full-time missionary, then a wife and mother. I'm glad I had the chance to step back in time for a few hours and relive some of those decade-old memories.Although it was a whirlwind trip, Katie and I did get to see both sides of the family! Here are some photos.
Katie with some eye-level friends she made at the retreat.

Katie, Lucy, and Marian: cousins born within 6 weeks of each other . . . in the arms of Carrie, Martha, and Adam. (This photo should adequately confuse posterity! Martha & Adam are parents to Marian, aunt & uncle to Lucy and Katie.)
An early celebration of my big 3-1 with the Boyers!
A visit to Spruces campground with Scott and Nora.

Hi Carrie, I love your blog, I am starting one too. I wanted to ask if you mean that you turned 31? I always thought you were younger than me.
Carrie it was so much fun to see you and little Katie. I love that we have little girls the same age! I stole your picture of the 4 little ones to put on my blog...hope you don't mind. Abby's prayers are so sweet, we get lots of those prayers at our house, my favorite was when Malia was saying a prayer and in between saying thank you for mom, dad, etc..she throws in "thank you for my paci's" she loves her pacifiers and has to have no less than two of them to go to sleep at night!
Oh Carrie! Your DMV experience, though frustrating it was, made me feel really good! I have had to get new licenses and registrations in CT, IN, and now TN... not a fun experience!
I loved seeing you last weekend!!!
